"Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" | Edward Bairstow
This setting of a classic hymn from the Christian tradition fills any resonant space nicely with it's soaring climax of Alleluias and gentle landing in reverent awe. This recording was taken during our 2024 "Mourning" series at St. John the Evangelist, a little church down the bayou in Mermentau.
"McKay" | Carol Barnett
This is one of three movements from a lovely work by Carol Barnett and one of our favorite pieces to perform. The piece describes the rapture at the arrival into paradise and builds into a roar of wonder and excitement with the sections all moving about each other until they arrive at the final resolution at the end. "If Ye Love Me" | Thomas Tallis
We have been singing this classic choir anthem since our first days as BonaVox. Please enjoy this recording from our second concert series ever, "Divine Love", at St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church in Lake Charles, LA.
"God So Loved the World" | John Stainer
God So Loved the World from John Stainer's Crucifixion is the perfect piece to join the narratives of the Christmas and Easter Seasons. This clip is from our performance at St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church in Lake Charles for Epiphany 2024.
"Still With Thee" | Elaine Hagenberg
We're so grateful for the opportunity we had to travel to Vicksburg and Baton Rouge in July of 2024 for our first tour! This video is of BonaVox singing Still With Thee by Elaine Hagenberg, with lyrics by Harriet Beecher Stowe, published by Beckenhorst Press. The Illinois War Memorial rotunda is likely one of the most sonically beautiful spaces we have ever sang in as a collective. We spent time in the Vicksburg National Military Park seeing the Civil War battle remnants and the U.S.S. Cairo.
"In Paradisum" | Grant Reddoch
This is a choral arrangement of the "In Paradisum" text from the Roman Gradual Mass for the Dead. We were able to premiere a this composition of one of our own, Grant Reddoch, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Kinder, LA during the "Mourning" concert series of 2024. This video is from our performance the following night at his home parish, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, in Lake Charles, LA.
"Hodie Christus Natus Est" | Phillip Cooke
We were honored to premiere Phillip Cooke's Hodie Christus Natus Est (2023) in the Americas during our Epiphany Concert Series, 2024. The piece's medieval spirit, outbursts of joy, and musical challenges were extremely fun to add to our concert! We'll certainly keep this piece as a showcase in our repertoire and are excited to see how our performance of it evolves.
"Ubi Caritas" | Ola Gjeilo
Gjeilo's setting of Ubi Caritas has become a staple in our repertoire over the years. Please enjoy this performance of the piece from our Summer 2023 "Divine Love" concert series.
