BonaVox

for the promotion of professional singing

BonaVox is a group of South Louisiana vocal musicians committed to offering high-quality music performance for the enrichment of Louisiana and beyond. Repertoire includes a capella music appropriate for mass, weddings, funerals, and general events. While we are based in SWLA, a subset (quartet to octet typically) of our collective is able to coordinate and travel across Louisiana and even sometimes into Texas or Mississippi for engagements. Interested in bringing us out for something further away? Please reach out and let's see what is possible!

About BonaVox

Our Story So Far

Formed in June 2022, BonaVox was created out of a desire to promote professional singing in SWLA. Each of the BonaVox members are trained and/or have extensive experience in both solo and choral singing, and continue to develop their skills by participating in this group. Their first complete year of programming, 2023, included their self-produced Epiphany, Divine Love, and Mourning Concert Series; as well as a performance at This Is Home Fest, and successful incorporation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The mission of BonaVox SWLA is to provide access to high-quality music performance for the enrichment of Louisiana and beyond, which is achieved by presenting free concerts throughout the year and performances at assisted living facilities and hospitals, with plans for other venues in the works.

Members of BonaVox are highly appreciative of their training from McNeese, UL Lafayette, La Tech, and LSU and hope that this organization will provide inspiration and a pathway for new music graduates to enter the professional industry. BonaVox also appreciates the SWLA churches that so graciously host their rehearsals and free concerts, as well as provide additional opportunities for high-quality music performance from BonaVox members. You will find BonaVox members engaged across the SWLA music community, including (and certainly not limited to) The Louisiana Choral Foundation, LVAE-Louisiana Vocal Arts Ensemble, and ACTS Theatre, while also enjoying the many events produced by the Arts & Humanities Council of SWLA.

In 2024, BonaVox has so far been privileged to have the American premiere of Phillip Cooke’s “Hodie Christus Natus Est” on their Epiphany Concert, a professional development clinic with Dr. William Plummer of UL Lafayette, and several invitations to perform across Louisiana and Mississippi. For their first tour, BonaVox will travel to Vicksburg, Mississippi in July to present several concerts. Later this year, sponsorship opportunities for the BonaVox mission will be announced, inviting members of the community to participate in the longevity of this vital work.
